Mike passed away June 15, 2001. We miss him greatly. Here is some information about his death and celebration of his life.

Mike Gvara, popularly known as "The Original Island Dog", resides in San Pedro Town. Ambergris Caye, a small island off the coast of Belize, Central America.

Originally ftom Windsor, Connecticut, he joined the U.S. Army serving in Korea and Vietnam. After military service he moved to California and operated a limousine service in Orange County. In 1990, needing a long overdue vacation he arrived in Caye Caulker, Belize. One thing led to another, he forgot California and stayed in paradise.
After three and a half years living on Caye Caulker running a bar and making a considerable dent in the island rum supply Mike started doing pencil and ink drawings to sell to the tourists. "The Dog.", a self taught artist has often said. "I'll never get rich doing drawings and cartoons, but it keeps me in rum and cigarettes and pays the rent. I get to have my office on the beach in the shade of a coconut tree."

1. These limited edition lithographs are printed with a metal plate on a printing press, they are not computer copies. The ink is permanent and will not fade or smudge

2. Each lithograph is printed on 240 lb. acid free linen cover stock. It will not deteriorate or yellow.

3. Each lithograph is numbered and signed by the artist. The original has been sold and the printing plate destroyed. When the lithographs are sold out, they will not be reprinted.

4. Lithograph size is 11" X 14". This is a common document size frame.

Greeting cards and Christmas cards are 5 cards w/envelopes per package and are $20.00 US for black and white cards and $25.00 for color cards. The price for the cartoon books is $20.00 US. If you would like both books, you would get 25% off the second book.
